Lommefilm teaches video production to students in Denmark. The production tempo is intensive, with nearly 8,000 participants producing more than 1,500 videos each year through workshops in schools and a school film festival with prizes. All video content is created with mobile phones (or tablets).
The general idea is to strengthen awareness of subjects such as digital rights and responsible alcohol use through mobile video, where participation in the creation further enhances the educational aspects and collaboration with Kræftens Bekæmpelse (The Danish Cancer Society), Trygfonden (Insurance company fund), and RettighedsAlliancen (The Rights Alliance).
Under the supervision of Lommefilm, students produce remarkable results, utilizing the cameras they have in their pockets. A great example from the competition “Drink less – experience more” can be viewed below:

Lommefilm initially gave Streamio the idea to create the “Instant Play” functionality. When many people upload videos simultaneously, the waiting time for encoding becomes unpredictable. In Lommefilm’s case, the students must access the videos immediately.
With “Instant Play”, web-compatible videos are available as soon as they are uploaded, without waiting for any encoding. The videos are seamlessly replaced as the encoding commences, providing optimized versions.
